High impact polyamide
Polyamides are the most common class of structural plastics. They are characterized by high heat and chemical resistance, have a high level of strength properties, have good antifriction properties, etc.
Modern production requires the use of polymers with improved performance characteristics. Mass use of PA is conditioned by a valuable complex of operational properties - high strength parameters (high tensile strength), high heat resistance, remarkable antifriction properties, excellent wear resistance, and also possibility of modification in a wide range. At the same time the use of polyamides in a number of cases, is limited because of insufficient resistance to shock loads.
Increase of resistance to impact is provided by the introduction of special materials into the composition - impact strength modifiers. Though bending and tensile strength is slightly reduced due to the modification, but their values remain at the level of values, typical for structural thermoplastics.
Application of high impact polyamide
Impact-resistant PA grades are resistant to alternating loads and are used:
-
in the automotive and aviation industries (lock parts, lining fasteners);
-
furniture production (wheels);
-
for the production of sporting goods;
-
for the production of various fasteners (clamps, clamps, seals, gaskets), etc.
In addition, these grades are intended for the production of special-purpose products operated under conditions of increased dynamic and shock loads, for example, in friction units (in the absence of lubrication or with a limited amount of it).
Characteristics of high-impact polyamide
Among the advantages of impact-resistant polyamide, one can also distinguish:
-
low coefficient of friction;
-
high resistance to abrasion;
-
low density, 7 times lighter than steel;
-
performs well under vibration loads;
-
resistant to chemical influences;
-
contact of polyamide with drinking water and food is allowed;
-
thermal conductivity coefficient of polyamide at 20-150 degrees - 0.28 W / m K.
